A System for the Automat~c Sumeillance of TrafRcSituations

چکیده
Knowledge of the actual traffic condition in a road section is the basis for an efficient performance of traffic management and control systems, automatic incident detection, route guidance systems, and so forth. Present traffic data acquisition systems are usually based on the collection of local data, such as passing vehicles’ speed or volume, which are picked up at certain points along the road. Using these local data it is possible to estimate the traffic conditions in the road section between the measuring points. A high accuracy of such estimations requires a relatively high density of measuring points. A more reliable basis for the abovementioned aims can be obtained, however, if it is possible to measure sectionrelated data such as journey time and traffic density, thus allowing a deeper insight into the actual traffic condition. In this article such a system is introduced; the system uses inductive loop detectors and pattern recognition principles tore-identify vehicles after they have passed a specific road section. Correlation of platoons of vehicles from the entry of a road section with those from the exit delivers the above-mentioned traffic data. This can be achieved with a relatively low number of data acquisition points in comparison with common systems. The result may be displayed in a map of a road network that is dynamically updated with information of the actual traffic situation. This map can be stored in a traffic monitoring center, where it can be accessed by different users (individuals, authorities, etc.) for their specific purposes.

Piecewise linear constrained control for continuous-time systems
This paper presents an application of a piecewise linear control la w in order to obtain the maximal domain of the admissible initial states. This is done in an homothetic w ayto the initial domain generated by the imposed dynamics on the closed-loop of a linear continuous-time system. Copyright c 2002 IFA C
متن کاملA polynomial approach to nonlinear system controllability
This note uses a polynomial approach to present a necessary and sufficient condition for local controllability of single-input– single-output (SISO) nonlinear systems. The condition is presented in terms of common factors of a noncommutative polynomial expression. This result exposes controllability properties of a nonlinear system in the input–output framework, and gives a computable procedure...
متن کاملA Novel Approach for Detecting Relationships in Social Networks Using Cellular Automata Based Graph Coloring
All the social networks can be modeled as a graph, where each roles as vertex and each relationroles as an edge. The graph can be show as G = [V;E], where V is the set of vertices and E is theset of edges. All social networks can be segmented to K groups, where there are members in eachgroup with same features. In each group each person knows other individuals and is in touch ...

متن کاملRobust H∞ control for linear discrete-time systems with norm-bounded nonlinear uncertainties
This note provides some corrections to the aforementioned paper. In [1, eq. (7)], C and aMkE1 cannot be added because the dimensions of the matrices are different. Therefore, the consequent derivations have to be adjusted. We propose two methods that can be used to correct this problem without harming the main idea of [1]. The first method is zero padding to zk 2 < to make zk 2 <. This can be w...
